Proposition 1: General Elections Bonds - $204,800,000

In the November 7, 2023 election, The Fife community will consider a capital projects bond to rebuilt Fife High School. Our district has been growing, and our schools are still catching up to the enrollment. Fife High School currently serves approximately 900 students. The original high school was built in 1925 and has undergone numerous additions and revisions over the decades.

The current campus has 7 exterior gates and 48 exterior building doors, making it inefficient and time-intensive to secure. The outdated classrooms do not provide our students with the space to learn the skills they need for life after high school, and many classes and commons spaces are so crowded they become unusable.

Vision for a New Fife High School

An information summary is available HERE featuring district priorities for a new high school.

Cost

The total cost of the new Fife High School is estimated at $225 million. $204.8 million would come from local voted bonds, with the balance funded by the state. If approved, the district would authorize selling $204.8 million in bonds. The tax rate is estimated to be 67 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value. This rate could drop if assessed property values rise or as more properties are built in the area; the district collects an approved sum of money - not a specific tax rate. On a home with an assessed value of $300,000, the estimated cost per month would be $16.75 - this includes the existing levies and the proposed bond.

Community Meetings

Superintendent Alfano and staff will be out in the community sharing information about the bond and what it means for our students. Dates will be added as they are confirmed.
